AN INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAM
STARTED: LÜNEBURG 1974
Bach-Brasil is an international study programme that has been running since 1974. It was launched in Lüneburg as part of a project aimed at developing music research with a cultural studies focus within a global context, at the suggestion of the Bach Society of São Paulo and the Collegium Musicum of São Paulo. It builds on a history spanning several decades of Bach studies and the promotion of Bach’s music in Brazil. Since then, it has been organised by the Brasil-Europa Academy and the Institute for the Study of Music Culture in the Portuguese-speaking World, in cooperation with institutions specialising in music and cultural studies, through research, teaching, concerts, seminars, colloquia and symposia in Germany and Brazil.
